Soothe Your Soul Sunday

What's something you can do today to soothe your soul?

As I sit in my Vancouver hotel room watching the rain pour down, I'm embracing the mood to snuggle myself a bit. How often do we get fixated on all of our to-do lists that we actually forget to slow down, even stop, to just unwind and say, "I'm going to relax"?

Start by carving out an amount of time that seems manageable and sufficient. I have a few requests; you won't punish yourself for neglecting anything or anyone, you will honor yourself with love and compassion, you will be specific about what you want to do with this time and it must soothe your soul. Deal?

For example, I don't often have a day that isn't scheduled back to back, nor do I usually have access to a hot tub, pool and sauna as I do currently in my hotel. I brought an actual pile of to-do list's I'm hoping to condense into one, so there's no shortage of things I'd like to accomplish. But, at some point today I am going to take one hour to do my 10 minutes of priming (#GMBB4) in the sauna and just enjoy myself with a little swim and hot tub time. These types of self-care acts inspire more of a connection with-in, expanding our self-awareness, deepening our ability to relax as we with drawl energy from the senses. The yogi's call this pratyahara.  We all need moments to let go of pressures we put on ourselves and to hit re-set. Most of us don't realize we have the tools to do this anytime, we just need practice accessing it.

Challenge yourself next time you're in place you feel your patience running thin. You're on a tight schedule, you're completely annoyed, flustered and would rather be anywhere than where you are. See if you can come back to mentally soothing your soul in some way. My go-to's are a few deep breaths and a positive affirmation flipping the situation and/ or taking some accountability instead of placing blame.

Smell the roses where ever you are!

Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures
