Reebok and I Want To Help You Keep Your Yoga Mats Clean
Hello mindful loves, how’s everyone doing? Are you surrounded by the freshness of Spring blooming, enjoying more sunshine, warmer temperatures and a comfort with COVID numbers being way down across the globe? I’m feeling all that here in Sonoma and it’s glorious.
With all the extra disinfecting and cleaning we’ve grown more accustom to through the pandemic, it’s a wonderful time to be reminded about the importance of cleaning our yoga mats and props. A big thanks to my friends at REEBOK for reaching out and asking me some awesome questions to chime in on How To Clean Your Yoga Mat for their blog.
Don’t let cleaning your yoga gear feel like a snooze fest topic, seriously… in my book the importance of cleaning our mats is part of our yoga life style and should be considered a ritual as sacred as our SELF-CARE routines. I say this with-in the same breath of knowing how easy it is to finish a practice, simply roll it up and put in the corner of a room or the back seat of a car until you roll it out to practice again without having done any cleaning or disinfecting. I’ve been guilty too and YIKES! So let’s jump over to REEBOK and see why that’s not serving ourselves or our mats well. Don’t miss the super quick video I made for them giving our community some easy DIY recipes and tips on what you need. The most important part is to have an awareness about what kind of mat you want to practice on, understanding the materials it’s made with and how to care for it properly. Favorites Of Mine That Are Good To Know
DIY recipe: Water mixed with 1/4 part witch hazel (with aloe) and a few drops (2-5) of tea tree oil or lavender well mixed
DIY recipe: Water mixed with 1/4 part white vinegar and a few drops (2-5) of tea tree oil
A plant based, non-toxic multipurpose cleaner like Koala Eco or Seventh Generation are great options if you’re not a DIY type.
For the props not safe for the washer and dryer you can spray down and let dry with the same DIY options
Clean both sides regularly and give your mat ample air dry time– VERY IMPORTANT
Cork mats & blocks are naturally antibacterial and eco friendly
Manduka has superior options for responsibly sourced products while minimizing environmental waste (I do not receive any free products from them, just some of my personal favorites I invest in).
Thank you guys for stopping by and I hope you learned a little something that can help support the health of you and your mat/ props while you practice. I love hearing from you so always feel free to reach out, comment or like this post! I appreciate YOU.
